Privacy policy

Short version: Tabpoint apps keep your data on your phone. They contain no ads and no analytics. This page explains the few cases where something leaves your device.

Summary

  • The apps contain no advertising and no analytics or tracking code.
  • Tabpoint does not run any server that receives data from the apps, and does not collect, sell or share your personal information.
  • Alarms, reminders, expenses and settings are stored on your phone.
  • Data leaves your phone only when you switch on a feature that needs it: weather in TheClock, sync to a server you run in TheReminderApp or Expense Tracker, or a backup that you save somewhere yourself.

Who we are

The apps and this website are published by Tabpoint. In this policy, “we” and “Tabpoint” mean that publisher. You can reach us at contact@tabpoint.in.

TheClock

What stays on your phone

Your alarms, timers, saved cities and settings are stored on your device. There is no account.

Weather (optional, off by default)

If you turn on weather, the app needs the place to look up. For your current location it asks for approximate location permission and uses your phone’s approximate position; or you can pick a town yourself instead. The app then sends the approximate coordinates to the forecast service of the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway, api.met.no) and shows the result. As with any internet request, that service can also see your IP address. The response is kept on your phone for about an hour. This information goes directly to MET Norway, not to Tabpoint. MET Norway’s own terms apply to it.

If you never turn weather on, TheClock does not use the internet.

Permissions

The permissions TheClock requests, and the reason for each, are listed on its app page.

TheReminderApp

What stays on your phone

Reminders, lists, tags, notes, saved places, settings and the optional background photo are stored on your device.

Calendar

With your permission, the app reads events from the calendars already on your phone, such as Google or Outlook calendars, and shows them with your reminders. This happens on the phone. The app does not change your calendars.

Location, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

These permissions are used only for the reminders that need them. For “at a place” reminders, you save a place with a name, a position and a radius, and the phone’s location service (Google Play services geofencing) tells the app when you arrive or leave, which is why location “all the time” is needed. Google handles that location data under its own privacy policy. For Wi-Fi reminders the app checks the name of the network you are connected to. For Bluetooth reminders it lists your paired devices and notices when one connects or disconnects. None of this is sent to Tabpoint.

Address search

When you search for an address while adding a place, the text you type is passed to your phone’s built-in geocoding service, which on most phones is provided by Google.

Sync (optional)

If you choose to sign in to a sync server, your reminders, lists, tags, places and settings are sent to that server so your devices stay in step. The server is one you run yourself, so the data is held by you. Tabpoint does not host a sync service and cannot see it. The server address, your sign-in and an account flag are stored on the phone. Anyone who runs a server is responsible for protecting it.

Backups and imports

A backup is a file the app writes to the place you choose in the Android file picker (your phone, Google Drive, Nextcloud and so on). It stays wherever you save it. Importing from TickTick reads the CSV file you select, on your phone.

Permissions

The full list, with the reason for each, is on the app page.

Expense Tracker

Phone-only mode

This is the default. Your accounts, entries, categories, budgets and planned payments are stored in the app’s private storage on your phone. The app runs its own small server on the phone, reachable only by the app itself. Nothing is sent over the internet.

Server mode (optional)

If you connect the app to a server, your data is sent to the address you enter, which is a server you control. Tabpoint cannot see it. If you switch on access control on that server, it also stores PINs (as hashes) and enrolled devices.

Backups and imports

A backup is a spreadsheet file protected with a password you choose. The password is stored on your phone, sealed with a key from the Android keystore, so that automatic backups can run. Backups are saved to the file or folder you pick. The app does not connect to any cloud service itself. Imports from other apps read the file you select, on your phone.

Notifications

Reminders for planned payments and repayments are created on your phone.

Permissions

Expense Tracker asks only for notifications, internet and network state. See its app page.

This website

This website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising or fonts and scripts from other sites. It is delivered by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, processes technical request data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the pages and keep the service secure. We do not receive or use that data to identify you. If you email us, we keep your message and address only to answer you.

Other companies involved

  • MET Norway: provides the optional weather data in TheClock.
  • Google: distributes the apps through Google Play, provides Google Play services location features used by TheReminderApp, and usually provides the address search on your phone. Google’s own privacy policy applies to what it processes.
  • Cloudflare: hosts this website.
  • Storage you choose: for example Google Drive or Nextcloud, if you save a backup there.

Your choices, and deleting your data

  • Since the data is on your phone, you control it. Uninstalling an app, or clearing its storage in Android settings, deletes the app’s data from the phone.
  • Backup files, synced copies on a server you run, and anything you saved in cloud storage are yours to delete there.
  • You can withdraw any permission in Android settings. Features that need it then stop working, and the rest of the app carries on.
  • Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or erase. If you think we do hold something, write to us and we will look into it.

Children

The apps are general-purpose tools and are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If the apps change what they do with data, we update this page and the date at the top before the change reaches users.
